Department of Public Finance
Established in 1997, the Department of Public Finance offers education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The department consists of four main divisions: Public Economics, Theory of Public Finance, Tax Law, and Budget and Fiscal Planning.
The education provided in the department aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge in economics, law, business administration, accounting, and finance—focusing primarily on public finance and public economy, public budgeting, taxation, and public debt—while equipping them with analysis and interpretation skills.
Main Objective of the Department
The primary objective is to raise individuals who analyze and question national and international fiscal and economic events using scientific methods, follow global developments, and produce solutions; and to conduct scientific research and publications in this direction. Within the framework of this objective, the goals are as follows:

To prepare and implement qualified undergraduate and graduate curricula in the field of public finance in accordance with universal criteria.

To conduct research and publications using scientific methods and techniques that can respond to the needs of the country and the region.

To train well-equipped and qualified finance experts who can meet the specialist requirements of the public and private sectors in fiscal and economic matters.
To achieve the goals mentioned above and to provide our graduates with the opportunity to work in a wide range of professions, the Department’s curriculum consists of courses in Public Finance and Taxation, as well as Economics, Business Administration, Law, Public Administration, Quantitative Methods, and Information Technology, taking into account the multi-faceted nature of the field. Successful students who take courses from the Public Finance program will find employment opportunities in a wide range of areas in both public and private sectors.

- Uses basic information technologies and applies them effectively.
- Applies public finance knowledge and skills at assistant and specialist levels in at least one of the fields of economics, taxation, budget, and accounting.
- Takes part in teamwork.
- Utilizes quantitative methods in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
- Conducts research in fiscal, economic, and social fields and reports the results.
- Sensitive to public interest, professional ethics, and social responsibility.
- Uses at least one foreign language in oral and written communication at the European Language Portfolio B1 level.
